כך חולפת תהילת מה,
והעולם לעולם יעמוד.
ונותר עוד לשאול,
מהי תהילה.
וגם השאלה,
הלעולם העולם יעמוד.
ובינתיים שמש,
ואויר (באמת) זך וצלול,
וכמוני בשמש
לטאה מתחממת,
ונותר עוד לשאול,
מה ביום שמש
עושה שבלול.

THE SHEPHERD OF YEMEN
So fleeting glory of what,
And the world will always be.
And remains to be asked,
What is glory.
And the question is:
Will the world be forever
Meanwhile the sun,
And air (really) pure and clear,
And like me in the sun
Lizard basking,
And remains to be asked,
What, on a sunny day,
Is the snail doing.

The title 'Shepherd of Yemen' could be a symbol of God the Shepherd, guarding his flock of people, the Israelites.
The use of the female form of Shepherd has its origins in the Bible, where Israel as the nation is referred to in the female form.
(For example Achot Lanu Ktana is the same situation.)
