HARVEST
GATHER THE DEEDS
Gather the deeds The words and the symbols Like a blessed harvest too heavy to carry
Gather the blossoms That ripened into memories Of summer that prematurely passed on
Gather all the images of her beautiful face As the fruit and the grain The earth is gray beneath the stalks And it can’t give you anything more (x2)
There is no more stem dreaming about its ear There is no more “ Nedarai Ve’asurai” Only the wind's promise that the rain will in time Rebuild the dust at the end of Tishrei.

Note: |
Asif is commonly sung during the festival of Sukkot. "Asif", meaning harvest, references the word “sof”, which means end. Nedarai Ve’asurai comes from the Yom Kippur prayer “Kol Nidrei”. The period is the end of summer/early fall, harvest time, during the month of Tishrei and the High Holidays, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
