THE CLOWN
THE CLOWN SONG
Once upon a time, Or so my grandma says, There once was a circus. Weaving between the tightropes There lurched a tiny figure: The one and only dwarf clown.
The sun arose, the night would fall, But the clown with merriness hailed all.
So minute and lightweight seemed he in his setting, But whenever he entered the circus ring– The crowd would roar out a tumultuous applause To welcome the one and only dwarf clown.
The sun arose…
His eyes never knew what it was to weep, Sad only the look in his eye. No tears ever fell on his cheek, For to make people laugh was his destiny.
The sun arose…
But one Spring eve, from the rope on high He plummeted and shattered lay he. The circus wept when they laid him to rest, But his son, the clown, laughs on with the best.
The sun arose…
