MELANCHOLY, MY LOVER

The young women are stepping in the street
glancing the shop windows
so captivating, look so wonderful
a day for love

Who of you beautiful women will be my wife
Who will share her fate with me
Who will want to drink from my poison cup
and with love

And I am full of sadness, wrapped up in sweetness
Oh, Melancholy, you are my lover
Why, you are my truthful wife,
petty and envious
Oh, Melancholy, you are my lover

The young women left long ago
gathered their long legs with them
dusk light is resting on the street
light to love

She will take my pensive self home
celebrate my loneliness with a bitter wine
forgive me about everything
and turn the knife inside me
and with love

And I am full of sadness,
wrapped up in sweetness
Oh, Melancholy, you are my lover
Why, you are my truthful wife,
petty and envious
Oh, Melancholy, you are my lover

Hebrew words

Note:
This beautiful song about melancholy is one of my favorite songs.

A few notes about the transliteration:
CH = ח (like in: Lechim! = To life!)
K = כּ (mostly), sometimes ק (in truth, כּ usually is transliterated into C as in Cobra. Nevertheless, I preffered transliterate it into K to prevent unnecessary confusion)
i = ee (like in: employee). Sometimes I used ee instead of i to prevent confusion with the pronunciation of well-known words or expressions in English (ex. eem instead of im)
apostrophe (') = separation between vowels (ex. be'ahava = be-ahava)

Hope you enjoy!
