Hebrew Songs.com is constantly a work in progress.

This means some of the translations are not yet complete, or not yet as good as we'd like them to be, while other details are still to be researched.

But the response from lovers of Hebrew song from all over the world has been so overwhelming, it is a work of constant joy.

We have over 5000 translations from more than 400 volunteers worldwide.

All corrections and amendments are happily received.

The origins of this site:

This site is an resource of song lyrics which have been transliterated and translated from the Hebrew for the enjoyment of our readers worldwide.

Aura Levin Lipski is a professional singer, songwriter and concert performer in English and Hebrew.

Having been in youth groups she cherished the "Shironim" - the songbooks - that were used for campfire gatherings and singalongs.

She collected them from many sources, but realised that both for her, and for many thousands of others around the world, those song books were lying dormant in cupboards and drawers.

She created the site and formed a network of Hebrew loving volunteer translators from around the world.

Our song list is constantly expanding.

Hebrew Songs.com is an information and education website.

Its sole purpose was to revive the hundreds of Hebrew Songs that can be found in Youth movement Shironim (song books) around the world. Many of these books are in cupboards or collecting dust on shelves.

Every reasonable effort has been made to track down the authorship of the lyrics and music of each song on this site.

In those cases where no attribution is given, this is because our search for authorship was unsuccessful.

Similarly, we have attributed the sources of all audio files and the website links of the sites which have provided them.

Hebrew Songs.com is ready to add any further information on any song or audio file available through our site.

We encourage all interested readers to purchase original songbooks, in English or Hebrew, where available.

Where possible, we also provide the link on each song page to the CD on which the song is located so our readers can purchase the music and keep supporting Jewish and Israeli composers.
