| Yehuda Gur-Arie (born February 16, 1934) is a Hebrew poet, translator, and editor. A Holocaust survivor. He was born in a small town in Bessarabia, now Moldova, in 1934. As a child during World War II, he was deported to a Romanian concentration camp in Transnistria, where he spent three and a half years. He immigrated to Israel as a teenager. He was a member of the Alumot group in the Jordan Valley. A resident of Givat Shmuel, and a graduate of the Department of Literature at Tel Aviv University. He was an editor in the literary section of the newspaper "Ma'ariv" until his retirement (1992). He edited manuscripts, books and academic research papers in Hebrew. He writes poetry, prose (stories) and literary lists, as well as journalistic articles in the Hebrew and Yiddish press. Translator from the languages: Yiddish, Russian and Romanian. To date, he has translated about 35 books, as well as about 120 other translations, in periodicals. He publishes his works on various literary platforms in Israel, approximately 130 publications to date. His song "Kefel" was composed by Nachum Heyman and made famous by Chava Alberstein. |
