This means some of the translations are not yet complete, or not yet as good as we'd like them to be, while other details are still to be researched.

But the response from lovers of Hebrew song from all over the world has been so overwhelming,
that we are grateful for all of the songs our readers have sent to us, including links to songwords on other web sites.

Over time we will correct and fine-tune.

As we say on our Noticeboard, all corrections and amendments are happily received.

The origins of this site:
" Shir Verikud"

This site is an index of song lyrics which have been transliterated and translated from the Hebrew for the enjoyment of our readers worldwide.
The kernel for this project began in 1995, when a dance teacher in Melbourne Australia, Chana Shuvaly, led popular classes called "Shir VeRikud".
She transliterated and translated the words of popular Israeli dance songs which made the lyrics accessible to Israeli dancers throughout Melbourne.
Most dancers were not Hebrew speakers, so it was a great boon for them to understand the words to the dances they were enjoying.

The folders of song words lay dormant for a few years in Aura's cupboard.

Aura Levin Lipski is a professional singer, songwriter and concert performer in English and Hebrew. She was one of Chana's original students in the Shir VeRikud classes, and realised that this was a wonderful resource that should be reintroduced - but now via the net.

Aura and Chana rekindled the project, and here it is now, vastly expanded, for you to share and enjoy.
Our song list is constantly expanding.
